Background of the Study
The advocacy for girl-child education has become a global priority due to its significant impact on societal development. Public relations (PR) plays a crucial role in promoting awareness, mobilizing resources, and influencing public attitudes toward girl-child education. In Chibok Local Government Area (LGA), Borno State, the challenges surrounding girl-child education are exacerbated by cultural, economic, and security factors. According to Ibrahim and Musa (2024), effective PR strategies such as media campaigns, community engagement, and stakeholder collaboration can foster positive change by addressing misconceptions and promoting the importance of educating girls. This study examines the effectiveness of PR in advocating for girl-child education in Chibok LGA, highlighting its strategies, challenges, and impact.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite numerous initiatives to promote girl-child education in Chibok LGA, significant barriers such as cultural norms, poverty, and insecurity persist. These challenges hinder enrollment, retention, and completion rates for girls in school. This study explores how PR can address these issues, evaluating its effectiveness in advocacy for girl-child education in Chibok LGA.
